Privacy Policy

A legal disclaimer

Effective date: October 25, 2026

Last updated: October 25, 2026

Version: 2026-10-25

Welcome to Sent to Serve! We're a place for Christians, churches, ministries and mission-minded people to find ways to serve, share needs, and give. These Terms of Use ("Terms") are the agreement between you and Sent to Serve, LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company, based in New Jersey, USA ("Sent to Serve," "we," "us"). They cover your use of senttoserve.com (the "Site").

How you accept these Terms. Before you apply, post, donate or save your profile, you'll be asked on your My Profile page to check an unchecked box confirming that you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. You can't continue until you check it. By checking it, you agree to these Terms. We record the version of these Terms and of our Privacy Policy (currently 2026-10-25) and the date you accepted them. If you browse without an account, these Terms still apply to your use of the Site.

These Terms include our Community Guidelines, Donation and Refund Policy, Youth Safety Policy and, if you post Listings or receive donations, our Fundraiser and Recipient Terms. Our Privacy Policy and Cookie Notice explain how we handle personal information; they aren't part of these Terms.

If you don't agree, please don't use the Site.

Words we use

  • "Site": senttoserve.com and the services on it.

  • "Member": anyone with a Sent to Serve account.

  • "Organization": a church, ministry, nonprofit or other group with an organization profile on the Site.

  • "Listing": a volunteer opportunity, mission or fundraiser posted on the Site.

  • "Fundraiser": a Listing that accepts donations.

  • "Individual Fundraiser" (shown on the Site as a “personal fundraiser” or “Fund a Mission”): a Fundraiser that an individual Member starts for their own Christ-centered mission or ministry purpose, such as a mission trip, with gifts going to that individual's own Stripe account.

  • "Recipient": the Organization, or the individual running an Individual Fundraiser, whose Stripe account receives a gift.

  • "Sent to Serve Parties": Sent to Serve and its owners (the members of the LLC), managers, officers, employees, volunteers, agents and affiliates.

Our role, in short

Sent to Serve connects people with Organizations, and we aren't a party to the donations or volunteer activities that come out of those connections (Section 1). Donations are processed by Stripe directly on the Recipient's own Stripe account (an Organization, or an individual running an Individual Fundraiser), so that Recipient is responsible for refunds, receipts and how the funds are used. We don't send receipts ourselves; Stripe may email one, depending on the Recipient's Stripe settings (Section 5 and the Donation and Refund Policy). Organizations run their own activities and are responsible for screening volunteers and for the safety of their activities (Section 4 and the Youth Safety Policy).

1. What Sent to Serve is (and isn't)

  • What we are. Sent to Serve is an online platform. Organizations and ministries post volunteer opportunities, missions and fundraisers. Individual Members may also start an Individual Fundraiser for their own Christ-centered mission or ministry purpose. Members browse Listings, save them, apply, and donate. Members contact Organizations directly, using the contact email shown on the Organization's profile, or its phone number if the Organization has chosen to show it. The Site doesn't offer in-site messaging. You need to be signed in, with a complete profile, to apply or donate.

  • We don't run the opportunities. We aren't the organizer, employer, supervisor or sponsor of any opportunity, event, mission trip or Fundraiser listed on the Site. The Organization or person who posts a Listing is responsible for it.

  • We review Listings before they go live, but we can't verify everything. The Sent to Serve team reviews each new or edited Listing before it goes live. Approval isn't an endorsement. That review doesn't check every claim, the background of any person, the safety of any activity, or how donated money is used. Please use good judgment and do your own homework before you serve or give.

  • We don't receive your gifts.

    • Donations are processed by Stripe and go directly to the Recipient you choose.

    • We don't hold or manage donated money.

    • Sent to Serve's own status: Sent to Serve is a New Jersey limited liability company. Gifts made through the Site go to the Recipient, not to Sent to Serve.

2. Who can use the Site

  • Age rules (the same rules appear in our Privacy Policy §7 and Youth Safety Policy §2):

    • Under 13: the Site isn't for children under 13. We check your date of birth when you complete your member profile, and members under 13 can't complete a profile. You can't apply or donate until your profile is complete. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we'll delete the account and its information.

    • EEA and UK: If you live in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you must be at least 18 to create an account. We check this when you save your member profile: you'll be asked whether you live in the EEA or the UK, and if you do, the date of birth on your profile must show you're at least 18. We rely on what you tell us and don't verify it.

    • Ages 13–17: if you're under 18, you must have your parent or legal guardian's permission to use the Site, and they must review and agree to these Terms for you. Parents and guardians who let a minor use the Site are responsible for that use.

    • Teen checkbox before applying: before applying to any volunteer opportunity or mission, a member aged 13–17 must check a box confirming that a parent or legal guardian has agreed to their participation and will be present for the volunteering. You may apply only to opportunities whose minimum age you meet. This checkbox is the member's own confirmation. Sent to Serve doesn't contact or verify the parent or guardian, or check that they're present. Organizations remain responsible for their own consent and supervision checks.

    • Organizations' own age rules: an Organization may set a higher minimum age, or require its own signed parental consent forms. That's the Organization's responsibility.

    • 18 or older to organize or receive donations: you must be at least 18 to create an organization profile, post a listing, start a Fundraiser, or connect a Stripe account to receive donations. You must also be 18 or older to start an Individual Fundraiser.

  • Accurate information. You agree to give accurate information and keep it up to date.

  • Organizations. If you act for an Organization, you confirm that you're authorized to bind it to these Terms.

  • Where we operate. Sent to Serve is based in New Jersey, USA. Donors and volunteers can be anywhere, including outside the United States. At launch, only Recipients based in the US with a US Stripe account can receive donations. An individual's Stripe account must be in their own legal name. You may not use the Site if you're in a country under comprehensive U.S. sanctions, or if you're on a U.S. government list of restricted parties.

  • Your local laws. You're responsible for following the laws that apply where you are, including laws about volunteering, travel, fundraising and giving.

3. Your account

  • Keep it safe. Keep your password private. You're responsible for activity on your account.

  • Tell us about misuse. Let us know right away at Senttoserve.help@gmail.com if you think someone else has used your account.

  • Closing your account.

    • You may ask us to close your account at any time (see the Privacy Policy).

    • We may suspend or close any account, or remove any content or Listing, at any time, with or without notice, if we believe it breaks these Terms or our policies, creates risk for others or for us, or if the law or Stripe requires it. If we close an account, we may also turn off donations to its Fundraisers. Closing an account doesn't affect gifts already made, or the Recipient's obligations for them.

    • If you receive donations: Your Stripe account belongs to you or your Organization, not to Sent to Serve. If your Sent to Serve account is closed or removed, we only remove the link between your Sent to Serve account and your Stripe account; we don't close or change your Stripe account. Your Stripe account and any funds in it stay yours, under your agreement with Stripe. Sent to Serve never holds donated funds.

    • We may also delete inactive accounts, as described in our Privacy Policy §8.

    • Sections 4 (assumption of risk and release), 6 (for copies already shared), 9, 11–14 and 16 continue to apply after your account closes.

volunteeringandmissions

4. Volunteering and missions

  • Posting a Listing. Posting any Listing requires checking a required certification checkbox that you're authorized to post it and that the Organization or Recipient has read, understands and agrees to the terms that apply (see our Fundraiser and Recipient Terms §1). Listings that may involve minors, and missions or Mission Trips, also need the youth-protection acknowledgment (§3 of those terms).

  • Applying. When you apply, your profile details are shared with the posting Organization (see the Privacy Policy). The Organization decides whether to accept you. We don't guarantee placement.

  • Risk acknowledgment for missions and travel. Before you apply to a mission or a Mission Trip listing, you must check a risk acknowledgment box confirming that you understand and accept the risks of the mission or trip, as described in these Terms (below). If you're under 18, you also confirm, through the teen checkbox in Section 2, that a parent or legal guardian has agreed to your participation; by checking this box, you confirm that they've agreed knowing these risks.

  • Assumption of risk and release. Volunteering and mission travel can involve serious risks, including illness, injury, death, property loss, crime, unrest, natural disasters and limited medical care, especially abroad. You take part voluntarily and assume these risks. To the fullest extent the law allows, you release the Sent to Serve Parties from claims arising from any opportunity, event, mission trip or travel you find through the Site, and from the acts or omissions of any Organization or person you meet through it. This release doesn't cover our gross negligence, willful misconduct or fraud, or anything else the law doesn't allow us to exclude. The Organization may ask you to sign its own waiver. That is between you and the Organization.

  • Your responsibilities. You're responsible for following the Organization's instructions, getting the travel documents, insurance and vaccinations you need, and making sure you're fit to take part.

  • The Organization's role. Safeguarding, screening and background checks, training, supervision, parental consent, youth-protection policies, waivers and logistics are the Organization's responsibility, not ours. We don't screen anyone or supervise any activity.

  • Trip costs. An Organization may ask you to pay your own trip costs, such as travel, lodging, food or insurance, directly to it or to the provider, outside Sent to Serve. Sent to Serve never charges volunteers for taking part and doesn't handle, hold, guarantee or refund trip payments. Any question, refund or dispute about them is between you and the Organization (see our Community Guidelines).

  • Minimum ages shown on Listings are set by the Organization. The Site doesn't check your age against them. Don't apply to an opportunity if you're under its minimum age.

  • Families share the responsibility. Members, and the parents and guardians of members under 18, are responsible for deciding whether an opportunity is right for them, for asking the Organization about its safeguarding practices, and for the parent or guardian being present as the teen checkbox confirms.

  • Young people. See our Youth Safety Policy.

giving

5. Giving

Donations are covered by our Donation and Refund Policy. In short:

  • How it works. Payments are processed by Stripe and go directly to the Recipient's own Stripe account. Sent to Serve never holds donated funds.

  • Who you're paying. The Recipient is the merchant of record for your gift. Sent to Serve isn't a party to the donation. The Recipient, not Sent to Serve, issues any refunds, receipts and tax acknowledgments.

  • Fees. Sent to Serve keeps a 1% platform fee, which comes out of your gift. Stripe also charges the Recipient its own processing fees.

  • Currency. Donations are processed in US dollars. If your card is in another currency, your bank or card issuer may charge conversion or foreign-transaction fees. Those fees are between you and your bank.

  • Amounts. Each donation must be between $1 and $10,000.

  • Use of funds. The Recipient is responsible for its Fundraiser and for using gifts as described. Sent to Serve doesn't oversee, verify or guarantee how any Recipient uses donated funds, and isn't liable for how funds are used.

  • Tax deductibility. We never guarantee that a gift is tax-deductible. Gifts to Individual Fundraisers are not tax-deductible. Whether a gift to an Organization is deductible depends on that Organization. If you pay tax outside the United States, your gift may not be deductible where you live, even if the Organization is a US charity. Check with a tax advisor.

  • Refunds are entirely the Recipient's responsibility and are issued through its Stripe account. The Recipient makes its own refund decisions. Sent to Serve never issues refunds, holds funds or decides refunds. Every Fundraiser shows a refund notice saying that refund requests and disputes are handled by the Recipient and Stripe, not Sent to Serve, and that Sent to Serve doesn't issue refunds or guarantee any refund or how gifts are used (see the Donation and Refund Policy §6). When the Recipient refunds a gift while its Stripe account is connected to Sent to Serve (that is, as long as the Recipient hasn't disconnected Sent to Serve from its Stripe account), we return our 1% platform fee on the refunded amount to the Recipient. If a Recipient refunds a donation after disconnecting Sent to Serve from its Stripe account, the Recipient or donor can email us at Senttoserve.help@gmail.com and we'll return our 1% fee on that refund.

6. Your content

  • Ownership. "Your content" means anything you post: Listings, photos, descriptions and profile details. You keep ownership of it.

  • Your permission to us. You give Sent to Serve a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, store, display, copy, adapt (for example, resize photos) and share your content. We may extend this license to our service providers, only so they can run the Site. We use this only to run and promote the Site and your Listing. This permission ends when your content is removed, except for copies we need to keep for legal, safety or record-keeping reasons, or content that others have already shared.

  • Your promise. You promise that you have the right to post your content, and that it's true and lawful.

  • Listings are public and shareable. Approved Listings are public, and anyone can share them. Past Listings drop out of the main browse lists, the home page and the default map the day after their date, and come down from all public views 7 days after their end date or event date has passed; after that, shared links show "no longer available." Listings without a date stay public until the Organization or the Sent to Serve team removes them. A Listing that has come down stays archived in the poster's own portal, visible only to them and the Sent to Serve team, until they delete it or ask us to, and is deleted 3 years after the date it was archived (or 7 years after that date, for a Fundraiser that received donations); see our Privacy Policy §8. Your permission above includes showing your Listing's title, text and photo in links and link previews when it's shared. We can't control copies made elsewhere, such as posts, screenshots, cached pages or link previews.

  • Keep private information out. Don't put private or sensitive information in a Listing, such as a personal phone number or details about other people. The event address you enter is public, so if an event is at a private home, think carefully before listing it. Photos of children follow the rules in our Youth Safety Policy §5.

  • Moderation. We may review, decline, edit for formatting, hide or remove any content at our discretion. That includes Listings that don't meet our Community Guidelines.

  • Feedback. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.

7. Things you agree not to do

Please don't:

  • break the law or help anyone else do so;

  • post false, misleading or fraudulent Listings or Fundraisers, or misuse donated money;

  • harass, threaten, exploit or endanger anyone, especially minors and vulnerable people;

  • use the Site to collect other people's information for spam, marketing or any purpose they didn't agree to;

  • send spam or unsolicited ads through Listings, or use contact details found on the Site to send spam or unsolicited ads;

  • try to get around our security, access other people's accounts or data, or interfere with the Site;

  • scrape, copy or resell the Site or its data without our written permission;

  • impersonate any person or organization.

See our Community Guidelines for more.

8. Our content

  • What we own. The Site's design, text, logos and code belong to Sent to Serve or our licensors.

  • Your use. You may use the Site for its intended purpose. Please don't copy it for other uses without permission.

9. Copyright complaints

Notices. If you believe content on the Site infringes your copyright, send our Designated Copyright Agent a notice. Your notice must include:

  • the work you believe is being infringed;

  • where the content is on the Site;

  • your name, address, phone number and email;

  • a statement that you believe in good faith that the use isn't authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law;

  • a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you're the owner or authorized to act for the owner;

  • your physical or electronic signature.

Designated Copyright Agent. Send copyright notices and counter-notices to:

  • Copyright Agent, Sent to Serve, LLC

  • 60 Augusta Dr, Annandale, NJ 08801

  • Email: Senttoserve.help@gmail.com, with the subject "Copyright notice"

  • Phone: (908) 455-0829

We may remove or disable access to any content we believe infringes someone's copyright, with or without a notice.

Counter-notice. If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, send our Designated Copyright Agent (at the address or email above) a counter-notice with:

  • your physical or electronic signature;

  • identification of the removed content and where it appeared;

  • a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification;

  • your name, address and phone number;

  • your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district (or, outside the U.S., any district where we may be found), and to accept service from the person who sent the notice.

When we remove content after a notice, we'll tell the person who posted it. When we receive a valid counter-notice, we'll send a copy to the person who sent the original notice. We may restore the content in 10 to 14 business days, unless that person tells us they've filed a lawsuit.

Repeat infringers. In appropriate circumstances, we'll close the accounts of Members who repeatedly infringe others' copyrights.

False claims. Anyone who knowingly makes a false claim in a notice or counter-notice may be liable for damages (17 U.S.C. §512(f)).

10. Third-party services and links

  • Services we rely on. The Site uses Wix (hosting and accounts) and Stripe (payments). Their own terms apply when you use them. For example, Stripe's terms apply at checkout, and Recipients accept the Stripe agreements shown during their Stripe setup.

  • Outside links. Listings may link to outside websites. We aren't responsible for those sites.

  • Communications off the Site. When you contact an Organization by email, phone or any other way outside the Site, or an Organization contacts you, that communication is between you and them.

    • Sent to Serve doesn't monitor these communications and isn't responsible for them.

    • Please use good judgment, and be careful about the personal information you share.

11. Disclaimers

  • "As is." The Site is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

  • What we don't guarantee. We don't guarantee:

    • that Listings are accurate, safe or lawful;

    • that any Organization or person is who they say they are;

    • that any Organization, leader or volunteer has been screened or background-checked;

    • that any activity or destination is safe;

    • that donated money will be used as described;

    • that any gift is tax-deductible;

    • that Listing details such as minimum ages and dates are correct or enforced;

    • that the Site will always be available or error-free.

  • No advice. Nothing on the Site is legal, tax, medical or travel advice.

  • Not a travel provider. We don't sell, arrange or book travel.

12. Limitation of liability

  • Indirect losses. To the fullest extent the law allows, the Sent to Serve Parties won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages. Nor will the Sent to Serve Parties be liable for any injury, loss or damage arising from:

    • volunteering, missions, events or travel you find through the Site;

    • the acts or omissions of any Organization, Member or other third party;

    • any donation, refund or use of donated funds.

  • Total liability cap. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Site or these Terms won't exceed the greater of (a) the fees you paid us, or that we received from donations to your Fundraisers, in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) US $100.

  • What these limits don't cover. These limits don't apply to liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit, such as liability for our gross negligence, willful misconduct or fraud.

  • Your local rights. Nothing in these Terms limits any right you have under consumer-protection laws that can't be waived by contract.

13. Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless the Sent to Serve Parties from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to:

  • (a) your content;

  • (b) your Listings, Fundraisers or events, and any activity you organize;

  • (c) your use of donated funds;

  • (d) your own wrongful or negligent acts toward other Members, Organizations or anyone you meet through the Site; or

  • (e) your breach of these Terms or the law.

We may take control of the defense of any claim at your expense, and you'll cooperate with us. You won't settle a claim that affects us without our written consent.

14. If something goes wrong

Talk to us first

We'd much rather work things out together. If you have a concern or a disagreement with us, please email us at Senttoserve.help@gmail.com.

Tell us your name, the email on your account, what happened, and what you'd like us to do. We'll try in good faith to resolve it with you during the 30-day period below.

Before either of us brings a formal claim, we both agree to try this first, for at least 30 days after one of us contacts the other as described above. Any deadline to bring a claim is paused during that time.

If we still can't resolve it

  • Christian mediation (optional). Either of us may suggest mediation with a Christian mediator we both agree on at the time. It's voluntary (both of us have to agree to it) and non-binding. Mediation costs are shared, or split however we agree.

  • Courts. If mediation isn't chosen or doesn't resolve the dispute, claims go to the state or federal courts located in Morris County, New Jersey, and you and we agree to those courts' jurisdiction.

  • Small claims. Either of us may bring a qualifying claim in small-claims court instead.

  • Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the law where you live requires its own law to apply.

  • If you live outside the US. If you're a consumer and the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts, or to rely on your local law, nothing in this section takes that away.

15. Changes

  • Updates. We may update these Terms. We'll post the new version with its effective date. For important changes, we'll also let you know by email or a notice on the Site, and may ask you to accept them before you continue. Changes don't apply to disputes that started before they took effect.

  • Accepting updated Terms. When we ask you to accept updated Terms, you'll do it on your My Profile page before you next apply, post or donate. If you keep using the Site after changes take effect, you accept them.

  • New features. If we add new features, such as in-site messaging, we'll update these Terms and our other policies before they launch.

16. General

  • Whole agreement. These Terms, together with the policies listed above as part of them, are the whole agreement between you and us about the Site.

  • Order of precedence. If these Terms conflict with the Fundraiser and Recipient Terms, those terms control for Listings and fundraising.

  • Severability. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.

  • No waiver. If we don't enforce a term right away, we haven't waived it.

  • Transfer. You may not transfer your account. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, reorganization, dissolution, or transfer of all or part of our work or assets.

  • Force majeure. We aren't responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as Wix or Stripe outages, natural disasters, war or government action.

  • Relationship. Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, agency, employment or fiduciary relationship between you and us. Organizations aren't our agents.

  • No third-party beneficiaries. These Terms don't give rights to anyone except you and us, other than the Sent to Serve Parties' rights under Sections 4, 12 and 13.

  • Notices and electronic communications. We may send you notices on the Site, by in-site notification or by email, and these meet any requirement that notices be in writing. Send legal notices to Senttoserve.help@gmail.com.

  • Survival. Sections 4 (assumption of risk and release), 6 (for copies already shared), 9, 11–14 and 16 survive the end of these Terms or the closing of your account.
