Sent to Serve is a community of people who want to serve others in Jesus' name. These guidelines help keep the Site safe, honest and kind for everyone: volunteers, donors, organizations, and the people they serve. They're part of our Terms of Use.

"Let all that you do be done in love." (1 Corinthians 16:14)

Be honest

Describe things truthfully. Describe opportunities, missions and fundraisers accurately, including the dates, location, minimum age, what volunteers will do and any costs volunteers must pay themselves.

Be who you are. Don't pretend to be another person, church or organization.

Use donations faithfully. Organizations and individuals who receive donations must use them only for the purpose described on the Fundraiser. Don't claim gifts are tax-deductible unless they truly are.

Be kind and respectful

Treat others well. Treat everyone with dignity, including people whose views or traditions differ from yours.

No harmful behavior. No harassment, threats, bullying or hate speech, and no unlawful discrimination.

No faith requirements, at this time. At this time, organizations may not require volunteers to share their faith, sign a statement of faith or meet any other faith-based requirement to take part in an opportunity listed on the Site.

Respect boundaries. If someone doesn't reply or declines, respect that.

Protect the vulnerable

No harm to minors or vulnerable adults. Never use Sent to Serve to exploit, groom or endanger children or vulnerable adults.

Organizations working with minors are responsible for safeguarding them, and must follow the steps in our Youth Safety Policy §3, such as background checks, supervision and parent or guardian consent.

Photos of children. Photos of children are allowed. Organizations and other Recipients, and anyone else posting content, are responsible for getting a parent's or guardian's explicit permission before posting any photo of a minor. Anyone posting should not include a child's full name, school or other identifying details with a photo. A parent or guardian can email us at Senttoserve.help@gmail.com to ask us to remove a photo of their child, and we may remove any photo of a minor at our discretion. We don't check photos or permissions.

Teens and families. Members aged 13–17 must have a parent or legal guardian's agreement before applying, and the parent or guardian must be present for the volunteering.

Reporting. Report any concern about a child's safety to 911, your local police or child-protective services right away (see our Youth Safety Policy §7 for hotlines). You may also tell us.

More. See our Youth Safety Policy.

Respect privacy

Use applicant data properly. Use applicants' contact details only to coordinate the opportunity they applied for.

Don't share private information. Don't post other people's private information.

No spam. Don't use contact details you find on Sent to Serve to add people to mailing lists or send unsolicited promotions.

Share carefully. Be thoughtful about the personal information you share with others, and only share what's needed.

Share respectfully

Share honestly. When you share a listing, don't change what it says or misrepresent it, its organization or its purpose.

Don't spam links. Don't post listing links in bulk, or send them to people who haven't asked for them.

Respect a "no." If someone asks you to stop sending them listings, stop.

Keep it appropriate

These are not allowed:

sexual or graphic violent content;

any content that sexualizes or exploits minors (we may report it to NCMEC and law enforcement, and will where the law requires);

photos or personal details of children without their parent or guardian's permission (see our Youth Safety Policy);

illegal activity, weapons sales, drugs or gambling;

scams, pyramid schemes, or "send money to get money" offers;

fundraisers for anything other than Christ-centered missions or ministry commitments;

personal (Individual) fundraisers for medical bills, personal emergencies or general living expenses, fundraisers for or about another person without their permission, and fundraisers that name a minor as the recipient (see our Fundraiser and Recipient Terms Part C);

political fundraising, such as for a candidate, campaign, political party or political action committee;

content you don't have the rights to, such as other people's photos.

Contacting organizations

How it works. Sent to Serve doesn't have in-site messaging. Members contact organizations directly, using the email shown on the organization's profile, or its phone number if the organization has chosen to show it.

Between you and them. Emails, calls and texts outside the Site are between you and the organization. We don't see or monitor them, and we aren't responsible for them.

Be kind and honest. Everything in these guidelines also applies when you contact each other off the Site.

Keep giving on the Site. Recipients (Organizations and individuals) must not ask for donations, gift cards or payments outside the Site's checkout for a fundraiser listed here.

Trip costs. Sent to Serve never charges volunteers for taking part and doesn't collect trip payments. An Organization may ask volunteers to pay their own trip costs, such as travel, lodging, food or insurance. These are paid directly to the Organization or to the provider, outside Sent to Serve. If it does, the listing must clearly state each cost, its amount or a good-faith estimate, and what it includes and doesn't include, before anyone applies. Organizations may not charge application, placement or other fees just for using Sent to Serve. Sent to Serve doesn't handle, hold, guarantee or refund trip payments. Any question, refund or dispute about them is between the volunteer and the Organization.

If something seems wrong, tell us at Senttoserve.help@gmail.com. If anyone asks for something that makes you uncomfortable, you don't have to respond.

How we review and enforce

Review. The Sent to Serve team reviews every listing and fundraiser before it goes live. We may look at reports, but we have no obligation to review them or to act on them.

What we may do. If something breaks these guidelines, or we consider a listing or fundraiser unsuitable, we may decline or remove it, turn off donations, or suspend or close an account, in our sole discretion.

Getting a reason. When we decline a listing, we tell the poster why.

Disagreeing with a decision. If you think we got something wrong, email Senttoserve.help@gmail.com. We may take another look.

Report a concern

By email: write to Senttoserve.help@gmail.com about a listing, a fundraiser, an organization, a person, or anything else that concerns you.

Emergencies: if someone is in immediate danger, call 911 or your local police first.
